The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they rejected his statement as a lie and hamstrung the she-camel. For that crime their Lord rumbled down upon them, utterly razing them to the ground. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
