And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 "And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised." 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 "So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!" 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
