۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
