The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it descends, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
