The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
