Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
