Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
