The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city -- 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 and I swear by the parent and his offspring: 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), 13 Or feeding on a day of severe hunger 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 then that he become of those who believe and counsel each other to be steadfast, and counsel each other to be merciful. 17 Those who do so are the people of the right hand, 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
