۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
