The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the setting star, 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael - Gabriel) rose and became stable]. [Tafsir At-Tabari]. 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms' length, or even less. The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him - was with body and soul. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers - Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
