The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
