The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
