The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
