The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he was created of gushing water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And no trifle. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
