Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups set at hand. 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
