The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 This is The Book free of doubt and involution, a guidance for those who preserve themselves from evil and follow the straight path, 2 Those who believe in the unseen and keep up prayer and spend out of what We have given them. 3 And who believe in that which has been revealed to you and that which was revealed before you and they are sure of the hereafter. 4 These are guided by their Lord; these surely are the prosperous. 5 Those who deny your message will not believe whether you warn them or not 6 Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom. 7
