And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
