And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds." 46 But when he brought to them Our signs they laughed at them, 47 even though each sign We showed them was greater than the previous one. We afflicted them with torment so that they might return [to the right path]. 48 And they said: O wizard! Entreat thy Lord for us by the pact that He hath made with thee. Lo! we verily will walk aright. 49 But when We removed from them the chastisement, lo! they broke the pledge. 50 And said Firaun, “O my people! Is not the kingdom of Egypt for me, and these rivers that flow beneath me? So do you not see?” 51 Aye! I am better than this one who is despicable, and well-nigh cannot make himself plain. 52 Why have bracelets of gold not been given to him and why have some angels not accompanied him?" 53 So he made his people unsteady, and they obeyed him; surely they were an ungodly people. 54 So when they vexed Us, We took vengeance on them, and We drowned them all. 55 and made them a thing of the past and an example for those who would come after them. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
