Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 Then by oath of those which move with ease. 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
