The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
