The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
