The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
