The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Most Merciful 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 He created the human 3 and He taught him speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
