Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In high empyrean 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and no food except pus 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
