They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" 85 If We willed, We could take away that We have revealed to thee, then thou wouldst find none thereover to guard thee against Us, 86 except through the special mercy of your Lord. His favours towards you has been great indeed. 87 Say, "If all human beings and jinn were to come together to bring the equivalent of this Quran, they could not do so, even if they all were to help each other. 88 In this Quran, We have set out all kinds of examples for people, yet most of them persist in denying the truth. 89 And say: "We will not believe you until you make a spring of water gush forth from the earth for us; 90 Or [until] you have a garden of palm tress and grapes and make rivers gush forth within them in force [and abundance] 91 Or thou causest the heaven to fall upon us, as thou assertest, in pieces, or thou bringest God and the angels face to face. 92 Or you have a house of gold or you ascend into the sky. And [even then], we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we may read." Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?" 93
