The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 He hath created man. 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
