The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
