20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
