The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On couches, gazing, 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
