The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 instead of your wives, whom your Lord has created specially for you? You are a transgressing people." 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 [Lot] exclaimed: "Behold, I am one of those who utterly abhor your doings!" 168 My Lord! deliver me and my followers from what they do. 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
