The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 then came down close 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 And Manat the other third? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
