The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
