The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
