So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
