The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
