Elucidated (Fussilat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HA MIM. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 The verses of this Book have been fully expounded. It is a reading in the Arabic language for the people of knowledge. 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 Indeed for those who believed and did good deeds, is a limitless reward. 8
