Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
