No! By the moon 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
