The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
