In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
