We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without purpose, even though this is the belief of the disbelievers. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of fire 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 We gave David Solomon. He was an excellent servant who always turned to God. 30 When in the evening were presented to him the standing steeds, 31 And he said: "Alas! I did love the good (these horses) instead of remembering my Lord (in my 'Asr prayer)" till the time was over, and (the sun) had hidden in the veil (of night). 32 "Bring them back to me." then began he to pass his hand over (their) legs and their necks. 33 We surely tried Solomon, and placed another body on his throne. So he turned to God 34 he prayed: "O my Sustainer! Forgive me my sins, and bestow upon me the gift of a kingdom which may not suit anyone after me: verily, Thou alone art a giver of gifts!" 35 So We made the wind subservient unto him, setting fair by his command whithersoever he intended. 36 And the devils -- the builders and divers of all kinds, 37 And others linked together in chains, 38 [And We told him:] "This is Our gift, for thee to bestow freely on others, or to withhold, without [having to render] account!" 39 And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return. 40
