The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
