The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the mansions of the stars, 1 And the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Cursed were the people of the ditch (the story of the Boy and the King). 4 Of fire fuel-fed, 5 while they themselves sat around it 6 And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise, 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and women without repenting will suffer the torment of hell and that of the burning fire. 10 For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires), 11 Indeed, the seizing of your Lord is severe. 12 Indeed it is He Who initiates and redoes. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 Master of the Honourable Throne. 15 The Doer of whatever He wants. 16 Have you not heard the story of the hosts 17 Of Pharaoh and the Thamud? 18 Yet the infidels persist in denial. 19 Whereas Allah is, from behind them, Encompassing. 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Qur'an. 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22
