Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By the sun and its brightness 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 TO [THIS] TRUTH gave the lie, in their overweening arrogance, [the tribe of] Thamud, 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15

Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
