The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
