Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
