The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He hath created man. 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
