He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
