And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. 50
