[Allah said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I, of what you do, am Knowing. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 So leave them immersed in their heedlessness till an appointed time. 54 What, do they think that We succour them with of wealth and children, 55 Are quickly giving them goodness? In fact, they do not know. 56 Surely they who from fear of their Lord are cautious, 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord, 60 those vie in good works, outracing to them. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 My communications were indeed recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels, 66 [and,] impelled by your arrogance, you would talk senselessly far into the night." 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or did they not recognise their Messenger and so denied him? 69 Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth. 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. 72 You are calling them to a Straight Way, 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ Even if We showed them mercy and relieved them of their afflictions, they would still persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
